REASONS FOR DESIGNATION
526 BURLINGTON AVENUE
Built circa 1913 by Charles Klainka, who had been a foreman at Nicholson’s Planing Mills, this frame house clad in cedar shingles and cross-cut clapboard siding is a good example of a modest craftsman style bungalow. Its architectural design, with its high-pitched gable roof and front verandah, complements that of its neighbour at 534 Burlington Avenue, a large stone craftsman style villa built three years earlier, and contributes to the heritage character of the Edwardian and Victorian streetscape of Burlington Avenue.
