Here is a list of activities and events taking place during Culture Days 2016 - TBA.
The seventh annual Culture Days weekend will take place Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and 2, 2016, and will promote free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate behind-the-scenes to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative individuals in Burlington.
Culture Days is a national initiative that aims to raise awareness, provide accessibility and encourage participation and engagement in arts and cultural life in Burlington. After the success of Burlington Culture Days in 2015, local creative organizations, venues, professionals and businesses are again invited to host events during the Culture Days weekend.
Submissions are open to residents of Burlington who would like to host a Culture Days event or activity. Artists from all disciplines are invited to submit a proposal. Events may include but are not limited to craft, dance, literary arts-spoken word, media arts-film, music, theatre, visual arts, performance art, etc. We may be able to provide you with free space for your project if required.
There will be a $100 honorarium for each selected proposal.
1. A one page description of your event or activity including the proposed date and time.
2. The amount of space the event requires.
3. Technical, equipment and set-up requirements. Note: you may be required to supply these requirements.
4. Examples of your work as:
a. A link to an online video site, such as YouTube.
b. A maximum of 10 numbered jpeg images. Including the artist's last name and number for each image
c. An image list of each jpeg file, artist name, size of work, media used and the year it was created.
5. Your resume including:
a. contact information - name, address, phone, email
c. exhibition/performance history
d. artist/group bio, maximum 60 words per artist
e. 3 page maximum.
Culture Days promotes free, hands-on and interactive activities. The public is invited to participate in behind-the-scenes activities to see how artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers, and other creative individuals work and contribute to cultural life in Burlington. Through this exchange, artists and creators have the unique opportunity to engage people of all ages in their creative practice.
