All of the participating sites offer FREE admission and onsite activities. This year, learn more about the Doors Open Ontario theme of adaptive reuse — showcasing heritage sites that have been repurposed to best serve their communities while retaining their heritage attributes.

We will be popping up in parks in the City of Burlington!

Pop Up n' Play is a play experience where children can explore, create, imagine and play in their own way. Staff will provide materials to foster unstructured play that allows children to explore and use their imaginations.

This is a free program that welcomes children of all ages with parent supervision. Parents are encouraged to watch their children play and see how their imaginations soar in the Pop Up n’ Play space.

Free summer swimming presented by Access Storage will happen at select times at various pools throughout the summer.

Come cool off and have fun in our outdoor and indoor pools.

Recreation swims and lap swims will be walk-in at the outdoor pools. Pre-registration is not an option. All Aquafit, including outdoor, and indoor recreation swimming and lap swimming will continue with walk-in and pre-registration.

The City of Burlington is hosting its first Animal Services Summer Social. 

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, July 6, 2024, rain or shine

Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Location: Burlington Animal Shelter, 2424 Industrial St., Burlington, ON L7P 1A5

This is an indoor/outdoor event. Visitors should dress according to weather conditions. In the event of thunder or lightning, the event will be held inside the shelter.

This event is free, however, monetary or gift donations to the Animal Shelter are welcomed. A list of items regularly needed by the shelter is available here.

In order to reduce stress on newly surrendered animals, outside pets are not allowed at this event.

The event includes:

• a facility tour
• meet and greets adoptable animals
• games
• prizes
• ice cream and light refreshments
• a birds of prey demonstration
