On April 8, join Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and Members of Council at Spencer Smith Park to witness the total solar eclipse.
The total solar eclipse, where the moon completely covers the sun, will be visible throughout Burlington offering a unique opportunity to observe this natural wonder. The eclipse will begin in the early afternoon at 2:04 p.m. reaching full coverage at 3:18 p.m. and begin gradually dissipating, wrapping up by 4:31 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, water and snacks.
Residents are reminded that a solar eclipse is best seen in clear weather conditions. While the City is prepared to host residents at Spencer Smith Park either way, the eclipse will not be as visible in cloudy, or...

This 30-minute ceremony takes place at the Naval Ships Memorial Monument in Spencer Smith Park.
Departing Central School on Baldwin Street, travelling down Brant Street to Elgin Street, Locust Street, Ontario Street and ending at the Cenotaph in Veteran Square, 426 Brant St.
This 60-minute ceremony is held at the Cenotaph, on the north side of City Hall. For more information, please contact the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60 at 905-639-6400 or visit the Burlington Legion website.

Each October, the Burlington Fire Department participates in a province-wide campaign to increase public awareness about the importance of fire prevention.
To commemorate Fire Prevention Week and Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, the City is engaging with residents in-person and online during the months of October and November to raise awareness about the importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.
