Road Closure for eastbound James Street at Martha

Update, Feb. 12: Bell Canada has completed the infrastructure repairs, however, the road repairs still need to be completed. As a result, the eastbound lanes of James Street at Martha Street will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bell Canada is doing urgent repairs to communication infrastructure and will be closing eastbound lanes of James Street at Martha Street.

The closure will be Friday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but may be extended if needed.

Burloak Drive Lane Restrictions

Update, Feb. 7, 2024: This work will be completed by Feb. 23, 2024.

 Update, Feb. 2, 2024: This work and lane restrictions has been scheduled from Monday, Feb. 5 to Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.

 Update, Jan. 29, 2024: This work and lane restrictions have been delayed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Update, Jan. 16, 2024: Due to the weather and other conditions, this work has been delayed. The work and lane restrictions will now be Jan. 22 to Feb. 9.

From Monday, Jan. 15 to Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, Burloak Drive will have lane restrictions for utility work at the Burloak rail crossing between Prince William Drive and Harvester Road. Work will be done between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Lane Restrictions in Downtown Core, Jan. 29

Beginning Monday, Jan. 29 for approximately four weeks, there will be short-term sidewalk closures and lane restrictions as construction is done to upgrade high-speed internet in the downtown core. The work requires sidewalk closures and lane restrictions on James Street, Pearl Street, Caroline Street, Ontario Street and Locust Street. All businesses will remain open during construction.

No. 1 Side Rd. between Guelph Line and Walkers Line will be closed Dec. 4-22, 2023 and Jan. 2-26, 2024 for two culvert replacements near 3175 No. 1 Side Rd. A detour will be in place.

Road Closures for Santa Claus Parade, Dec. 3

Road closures will be in effect on Sunday, Dec. 3 for the Santa Claus Parade.

Road Closures 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Prospect Street from Cumberland Avenue to Guelph Line with local access permitted.
  • No access from 2 to 3 p.m.

1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Guelph Line from Fairview Street to New Street
  • New Street from Guelph Line to Martha Street
  • James Street from Martha Street to Brant Street
  • Brant Street from Elgin Street to Baldwin Street/Victoria Avenue 

The Halton Regional Police Service will supervise all closures and direct traffic at major intersections. Emergency services access will be maintained at all times along the event route.

Downtown Municipal Parking

Please remember to obey all parking bylaw regulations to avoid being ticketed and/or towed.

Temporary “Emergency - No Stopping“ signs will be posted on various streets. Parking and police officers may ticket or tow illegally parked vehicles to ensure that streets are free and clear for emergency vehicle access.
