Burlington Hydro Tree Removal and Replacement along Waterfront/Centennial Trail

Posted on Friday, June 14, 2024 11:00 AM

Beginning on Monday, June 17, Burlington Hydro will be conducting tree removals and pruning along the Waterfront/Centennial Trail between Martha Street and Guelph Line. This work is required as trees have been identified as being unsuitable for the hydro corridor due to their proximity to hydro, and the risk of interference with critical overhead power lines that service the downtown core.

Over time, many of the trees were introduced along this corridor without deliberate intention or planning by the City or Burlington Hydro, and rather through natural processes (bird and animal carriers, wind dispersal, etc.). Several severe weather events in the last few years have led to branches falling on these power lines and causing outages.

Work is expected to take four weeks, weather permitting. Access to the pedestrian trail will remain open during this time. Please be aware and follow the safety precautions and signage while using the trail.

Once maintenance work is completed by Burlington...
