Project scope

This project includes:

• New footbridge at Folkway Drive
• New sports light fixtures and replacement of selected light poles at ball diamond D1 and D2
• New water service lines and irrigation systems for soccer F1, diamonds D1, D2 and D3
• New asphalt paving at maintenance building

Project scope

Construction at Tecumseh Park will include the installation of:

• New baseball backstop, infield, line fence, dugouts and players’ benches
• New asphalt pathway connection
• New site furnishings (includes benches, bike rack, bollard and waste bin)
• Surface drainage improvements
• New sod
• Native tree plantings

Project schedule

The Tecumseh Park Renewal has been delayed until road works have been completed. Project timelines are still being finalized.

Proposed Improvements

• Filling of gaps at existing storm sewer outfalls
• Construction of in-water concrete slabs along seawall
• Steel cap repairs along the seawall
• Replace pedestrian railing at West stairs
• Seal (caulking) repairs along lower promenade

Sweetgrass Park Renewal

The City of Burlington is renewing Sweetgrass Park, located at 555 Woodview Rd.

This renewal is guided by consultation with the Indigenous Talking Circle and the City of Burlington’s commitment to celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ traditions and unique culture. The park improvement will consist of a ceremonial circle for full moon and other ceremonies and a contemplative area near Tuck Creek. Full moon ceremonies typically happen at or near sunset, with a reflection on the previous month, and setting intentions for the month to come. The space will be designed to safely support the ceremonial fire used during full moon ceremonies.

King’s Road Public School Playground Improvements

The City of Burlington is renewing the older parts of the school playground at King’s Road Public School (660 Greenwood Dr.) in summer 2025, once students are out of school.

The proposed improvements include:

• Removal of existing older playground equipment and partial safety surface. Some of the existing playground equipment, independent play features and swings will not be removed.
• Installation of a new playground equipment structure by OpenSpace Solutions Inc.
• New engineered wood fibre safety surfacing at the playground.
• Planting of new trees.

Colours may vary. 

The school grounds will remain open during construction; however, there may be minor inconveniences due to construction activity. For safety, the entire playground area will remain closed and fenced off with signs posted until the final third-party CSA safety inspection is complete.
