Notice - Statutory Public Meeting & Recommendation Report for 1497-1511 Old Plains Rd. June 10, 2025

GSP Group has made an application to amend the Official Plan Designation and Zoning for the property located at 1497-1511 Old Plains Rd. W. Application file 505-03/25 and 520-04/25.

Description of Proposed Development

These applications will permit 75, 3-storey, one and two bedroom stacked townhome units on the subject property. The proposal will be completed as a phased development. Phase 1 consists of 51 units and Phase 2 will consist of 24 units. Vehicular access is proposed from Old Plains Road West with an internal road network with one parking space per unit and 11 visitor parking spaces located throughout the site.

Notice of Statutory Public Meeting - OP Amendment to Enable Delegated Authority - June 10, 2025

The City of Burlington is proposing amendments the Burlington Official Plan, 2020 that will delegate authority to staff to pass minor bylaw amendments under Section 34 of the Planning Act that are of a minor nature, in accordance with Section 39.2 of the Planning Act and the City’s Delegated Authority Bylaw, as outlined below. The proposed amendment will also establish alternative measures to be used for public notice and obtaining public opinion on Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments.

Proposed Amendments

The proposed Official Plan Amendment will apply City-wide and will outline the objectives and policies for delegated authority. Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review – Final Report and Recommendations

In accordance with the Public Notice Policy, The Corporation of the City of Burlington hereby gives notice to advise the Committee of the Whole will consider the Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review Final Report and Recommendations prior to the enactment of a bylaw dividing, establishing or dissolving of wards.  

This matter will be considered at the Committee of the Whole on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 426 Brant St., Burlington, with members, staff and delegates participating in-person or remotely via Zoom. If approved, the matter will be forwarded to City Council on May 20, 2025. The staff report regarding this matter will form part of the regular Committee of the Whole meeting agenda and will be available to the public on May 2, 2025 – Report LLS-29-25.

Public Meeting: Burlington Avenue & Ontario Street Heritage Conservation District Plan

The City of Burlington is inviting community members to join City staff and consultants at a public meeting about the Burlington Avenue & Ontario Street Heritage Conservation District (HCD) study area. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Burlington City Hall (426 Brant Street).

This is an opportunity to share feedback about what a Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plan means to you. City staff will be there to share information, and provide an overview of the draft Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plan and Guidelines.

Notice of Passing of CIP By-law 23-2025

Burlington City Council passed By-law 23-2025, on April 15, 2025, under subsection 28 (4) of Part IV of the Planning Act, 1990, as amended.  File number: 590-01-25, (DGM-24-25)

Purpose and Effect of the By-law

By-law 23-2025 adopts the Affordable Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Burlington Affordable Rental Housing Community Improvement Project Area. A copy of the adopted CIP is available on the City’s Housing Strategy webpage at www.getinvolvedburlington.ca/housingstrategy 

Public Consultation on the Affordable Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan occurred through a Statutory Public Meeting held on April 8, 2025, at a Committee of the Whole meeting.
