Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.: Honouring our veterans on Remembrance Day

Burlington Transit will be remembering those who fought for our freedom and honouring veterans on Remembrance Day by pausing service for a moment of silence on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. 

Just before 11 a.m., our buses will stop in a safe spot and stay there until the moment of silence has finished. Handi-Van vehicles will stop at a safe location on the road. The downtown transit terminal and specialized dispatch will also pause service at 11 a.m.

All service will resume right after the two-minute pause.

Service hours

Burlington Transit will run on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, Nov. 11. The downtown terminal at 430 John St. and specialized dispatch will also be open regular hours. 

Detours

Remembrance Day procession and ceremonies have returned to in-person this year. Burlington Transit buses traveling in the downtown area will detour around the parade route and ceremony road closures.

Service to Aldershot GO Station

Aldershot GO Station bus stops are closed. All Burlington Transit buses that normally go into the Aldershot GO Station are being re-routed to temporary bus stops located on Masonry Court.

This detour will be in effect until further notice.

Because of this detour, service may be delayed and connections missed. Please try to give yourself extra travel time during any detour.

Sept. 19: Service pause in honour of Queen Elizabeth II

We are joining our transit partners across the province to pause all service on Monday, Sept. 19 for 96 seconds at 1 p.m. in honour of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, on the day of her funeral. We invite you to join us to pause for a moment of silence on the National Day of Mourning.

All Burlington Transit service will pause for this moment of silence. Just before 1 p.m., our buses will stop where it is safe to do so and stay there until the moment of silence has finished. Handi-Van vehicles will stop at a safe location on the road. The downtown transit terminal and specialized dispatch will also pause service at 1 p.m.

All service will resume right after the 96-second pause.

This pause is part of the Province of Ontario’s moment of silence following Her Late Majesty’s State Funeral on Monday. This is the last day of the official period of mourning in Canada for Queen Elizabeth II.

School is back in session on Sept. 6 and Burlington Transit is here to get you to class!

Are you under 12 and taking the bus? Your ride is free on Burlington Transit. Make boarding easier by tapping on with your PRESTO card when you board the bus.

If you are over 12 years old, you will need to tap your PRESTO card to board the bus.

Don’t have a PRESTO card? No problem. Stop by the Transit Terminal at 430 John St. to pick up your pass – proof of age is required for passengers under 12 to qualify for our free ride program.

Service Changes- Aug. 28, 2022

Starting on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, Burlington Transit will be increasing weekday service on Route 4. Buses will leave the Aldershot GO Station every 30 minutes from 7:25 a.m. to 5:25 p.m., Monday to Friday.  

Buses will leave the Aldershot GO station every 60 minutes from 5:25 to 7:25 a.m. and 5:25 to 8:25 p.m. on weekdays. There is no change to weekend or holiday service hours.

As a reminder, changes were made to the Route 2 and 3 connections at 407 Carpool lot earlier this year. During peak times, 3 to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, please get off the bus to transfer between Route 2 and 3.  Route 2 does not become Route 3 and Route 3 does not become Route 2.
