AFTER CANNABIS LEGALIZATION: Halton Police to Focus Resources on Community Safety

As of October 17, 2018, the legislation that governs the possession, consumption, sale and cultivation of cannabis will be substantially changing.

 The Halton Regional Police Service has collaborated closely with our Municipal and Regional partners to ensure a consistent service delivery response for members of the public, in all areas of the Region, once cannabis becomes legalized.

We recognize that after October 17, there will be a period of transition and social adjustment that will require flexibility and consideration as the community, the Service and the Courts react to the new laws.

City looking for volunteers for Rogers Hometown Hockey

The City of Burlington is looking for volunteers for Rogers Hometown Hockey. The volunteers will help with various aspects of the exciting events being held in downtown Burlington on Oct. 27 and 28.

There will be two areas for volunteer hours: waste sorting and popcorn distribution.

The online application form can be found at burlington.ca/hometownhockey. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 21.

October 27 and 28

TORONTO (October 11, 2018) RogersTM Hometown HockeyTM Tour presented by Scotiabank and Dodge is heading to Burlington, ON, for a celebration of hockey on October 27 and 28. Hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will be on site for the festivities, which include meet-and-greet opportunities with former Toronto Maple Leafs Steve Thomas and Darcy Tucker, a special live performance by Burlington’s very own Walk Off The Earth, and the live Sportsnet NHL broadcast.

The two-day hockey festival begins on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Noon ET on Brant Street and will conclude on Sunday evening following the Rogers Hometown Hockey outdoor viewing party....

Road Closure - James Street, Oct. 11 - 12, 2018

James Street will be closed between John Street and Elizabeth Street from Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at 9 a.m. until Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at 5 p.m. for excavation work.

Traffic will be detoured along John Street and Elizabeth Street to Caroline Street.

Halton Regional Police Services will be on site to assist traffic.

City issues reminder about rules for third-party advertising in Oct. 22 election

Burlington, Ont.—Oct. 10, 2018— The City of Burlington reminds individuals and businesses promoting candidates in the Oct. 22 municipal election to follow the rules of third-party advertising.

The rules are new to this election and are part of the provincial Municipal Elections Act.

Elected positions include Halton Regional Chair, Mayor and members of City Council for the City of Burlington, trustees for the Halton District School Board and Halton District Catholic School Board and Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
