Burlington, Ont.—May 30, 2017—Councillor Paul Sharman will be attending the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Annual Conference on June 1 to 4 where the City of Burlington will be recognized for achieving all five milestones in the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program.
PCP is a group of municipal governments that are actively committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) and action on climate change. The goal of the PCP program is to reach five milestones, which include research on current GHG emissions, development and implementation of an action plan and evaluation of the results. Burlington is one of 40 municipalities across Canada to achieve the final milestone in the PCP program.
The City of Burlington has successfully completed all five milestones and is a leader in climate change action in Canada. Councillor Sharman, Council representative on Burlington’s Sustainable Development Advisory Committee, will be participating in a fireside chat to share the city’s success story with other municipal representatives at the annual conference on June 3.
