Our board and committee members provide advice and feedback to Council and staff on a variety of issues in the city. We encourage members of the public, aged 18 and older, who represent the diverse backgrounds of our community to take part.

The Burlington School Traffic Safety & Mobility Advisory Committee aims to identify, assess and provide recommendations to staff on school traffic and mobility-related risks, with the goal of implementing measures that improve safety in and around school areas. Committee responsibilities
How we conduct Committee businessMeetings will be held in-person, with a virtual option offered to members and other attendees for convenience. Agendas are distributed electronically and posted on the City of Burlington online calendar. Meeting frequencyThe committee is expected to meet monthly, apart from July, August and December. Meetings will be held during normal business hours, with a duration of approximately two hours. Committee compositionThe Burlington School Traffic & Mobility Advisory Committee is comprised of 13 voting members.

Council Remuneration Review Working Group |
The Working Group is comprised of a group of individuals selected to review and make recommendations on the compensation, benefits, and all applicable expenses of elected officials. Supported by City staff from Human Resources and Finance, the Working Group serves as voice that represents the City of Burlington’s constituents to ensure a fair and equitable review of Council Renumeration for the 2026 to 2030 term of office. How we conduct Working Group businessThe Working Group does not have any decision-making capacity or delegated authority except to propose changes and recommendations based on the data, information, materials and resources shared with the Working Group. The Working Group members will participate in meetings either in person at City Hall or remotely by way of Microsoft Teams. Agendas and minutes will be distributed electronically. Meeting frequencyMeetings will generally take place monthly, for two hours in the afternoon or evening. The meeting frequency and duration will be confirmed with the group members and support staff at the first meeting. Working Group compositionThe Working Group is comprised of seven members of the public. One individual will be designated as Chair. The group will be supported by City staff from Human Resource and Finance. Preference will be given to individuals who have backgrounds or experience in compensation practices, finance or similar fields. The group will remain active until Council considers the recommendations in its final report (by December 2025). Members of the group are volunteers with no remuneration other than for reasonable expenses incurred by attending meetings.
