Roseland Private Tree Bylaw Pilot - Information Session
|
The Private Tree Bylaw will come into effect on March 1, 2019, only within the Roseland community area, for two years. Later this year the city will begin the process of public engagement on the possibility of implementing a citywide private tree bylaw.
The pilot project aims to protect private trees with diameters larger than 30 cm, historic and rare tree species from damage or destruction.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to attend to learn more about how the bylaw will protect Burlington’s tree canopy and how it will impact their homes and businesses.
Businesses such as landscapers, pool companies, homebuilders, general contractors and tree companies are also encouraged to come and learn about the bylaw.
To read the full bylaw, including information on permits, exemptions and fines, visit Burlington.ca/PrivateTree.

Rural Burlington Active Transportation Plan Workshop #2
|
The City of Burlington is preparing a Rural Active Transportation Strategy to create safe walking and cycling options in rural Burlington for residents.
Rural Burlington has a unique set of challenges and opportunities that this strategy plans to address through the following:
- Identifying opportunities to enhance safety. Provide realistic, cost-effective options to enable active transportation.
- Identifying missing links and barriers to active transportation.
- Identifying opportunities to integrate the Bruce Trail into the on-road transportation facilities.
- Improving the safety of trail crossings.
The workshop will be an opportunity to hear about how people are currently using active transportation in rural Burlington, the types of trips being taken and where people are going. We also want to hear about issues and barriers to using active transportation.
The workshop will be interactive, providing opportunity to discuss and visualize active transportation facilities suitable for small town and rural areas. This fun, informative and interactive workshop is available to any persons interested in active transportation in rural Burlington.
Drinks and snacks will be provided. Please try to attend the full session.
