Pineland Public School Playground Improvements

The City of Burlington is renewing the school playground at Pineland Public School (5121 Meadowhill Rd., Burlington) in Summer 2022.

The proposed improvements include:

Removal of the two existing playgrounds

• Removing all old play equipment, swings and safety surfaces

New playground installation by the parking lot which will include:

• new curbs
• accessible transition curb-ramps
• new playground equipment and swings - design based on ‘Love My Playground’ survey results
• new engineered wood fibre safety surfacing at playground and swings
• new seating at playground/swing areas
• asphalt pathway
• tree planting around playground/swing area

Construction schedule and playground area closure:

The construction of the playground will start in early July and total completion is anticipated to be October, weather pending. The bulk of the site works (removals of old play equipment, installation of concrete curbing and pathway connections) will take place in July/August.  The new play equipment installation will take place in October.

The school grounds will remain open during construction, however, there will be some minor inconveniences experienced due to construction activity.  The playground area will remain closed and fenced off with signs posted until final 3rd party safety inspection is complete. Love My Playground! Survey - Thank you for your input

In 2021, the City conducted a ‘Love My Playground’ survey to get public feedback about the types of equipment they'd like to see at local playgrounds when the equipment is replaced in 2022. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey, including the many children and caregivers who provided great feedback.

Your input inspired the playground designers when deciding which pieces of play equipment to include in your new local playground. Most of the play equipment features identified above from the survey results will be included as part of the new Pineland School playground improvements.
