If you are planning on carrying an oversized load on the road, temporarily placing a dumpster bin on a public roadway, or keeping construction materials or equipment on a roadway, you must apply for a permit with the City.
You can download all permit application forms online and submit your application at city@burlington.ca. Alternatively, you can bring your completed form, requirements and payment to our Service Burlington desk at City Hall during business hours. More information can be found on each form.
If you plan on carrying an oversized load on City roads, you must apply for a permit with the City.
Download and complete our Annual Oversize Permit Application Form to apply for a permit for the whole year. The permit fee is $405.60 A minimum of five business days' notice is needed.
Download and complete our Single Trip Oversize/Overweight Permit Application Form to apply for a permit for a single trip. The permit fee is $185.48 with five or more business days' notice. The permit fee for less than five days notice is $259.68.
A Superload permit is required if a vehicle and/or load exceeds any of the following limits:
A superload permit involves additional steps and can take significantly longer than the oversize/overweight permit. The approval process can range from at least five business days, starting from the day the City receives the required structural reports or the applicant fulfills all required conditions, up to six months.
Download and complete our Dumpster Permit Application Form to apply to temporarily place a dumpster bin on a public roadway. There is a permit fee of $70.49 and damage deposit of $500.
Download and complete our Road Occupancy Permit Application Form to apply to keep construction materials or equipment on a City road. There is a permit fee of $108.82 and a damage deposit of $1,000.
