What is a secondary plan? |
Secondary plans contain policies and mapping for large or undeveloped parcels of land that provide details for future land use. Through this process, a plan will be created that will:

Where is the Evergreen secondary plan area? |
The Evergreen Secondary Plan study area is located on the west side of Tremaine Road, between Dundas Street and Highway 407 and is also bounded by Bronte Creek see area outlined in red on aerial photo. |
Why is the city preparing a secondary plan for the Evergreen area? |
The city does not have detailed land use plans for the Evergreen lands. A recent study was led by Halton Region to determine the specific land uses for this area. As a result, a Background and Options Report (PDF) was produced. Burlington City Council considered this analysis and directed staff to prepare a secondary plan that provides a mix of land uses. Updated Staff Report (2017) and Council Direction |
A staff report was prepared by planning staff for the Committee of the Whole. The purpose of the report was to outline some proposed concept plans that were prepared by the developer and to seek direction from Council on how to proceed. Following this meeting, Council provided a revised staff direction for continued work on the secondary plan. |

How can residents get involved? |
Planning staff will be updating the city's website regularly with information that will describe the stages in the project schedule, including planned public involvement opportunities. If you are interested in helping to shape a new community, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to share your thoughts and ideas. |
Design workshop |
A design workshop was held on May 16, 2012 at Tansley United Church. Councillor Blair Lancaster, staff from the city, representatives from the developers and members of the public attended the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss draft planning principles for the new community and to have attendees create concept plans to be used as input in preparing the secondary plan.
