The City of Burlington is at a critical juncture. We have used up our designated green space, the traditional location for subdivisions. We now need to strike a balance between traditional development and intensification and infill development.
We know this is important to residents and businesses in Burlington. That's why we are opening the conversation. Let's talk about what this new era of growth will look like and how it will shape our community.
City Council directed city staff to develop a communication program to provide community engagement, dialogue and participation with Burlington residents about why and how we will transition redevelopment in urban areas of the community.
Council has also asked staff to help create a better understanding of how the city is planned through Official Plan amendments and zoning. Staff will provide that information at an upcoming Development and Infrastructure Committee meeting.
