Playgrounds are an important part of the park experience for residents and visitors. They provide free physical and creative activities for children and their families. Playgrounds are designed to challenge and stimulate all children, regardless of their abilities. Inclusive outdoor play spaces allow for all children to play together, increasing understanding and integration.
The City of Burlington maintains more that 115 playgrounds within City parks and school properties. Over the past two decades, we have focused on improving playground safety and accessibility. The City has an ongoing commitment to ensure that our playgrounds meet or exceed the most current CSA safety standards as well as the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act - Design of Public Spaces Standard. The City replaces playgrounds that have reached the end of their service life every year.
Over the next couple of years, the City will be replacing a number of playgrounds in parks and schools across the City, shown on the map below.
Have your say…
We invite all families that live near and use these parks and school playgrounds to complete an online survey and tell us what features you would like to see in the new playground as well as suggestions for creating inclusive play opportunities. Your feedback will help us design a playground that will respond to the unique needs of your neighbourhood. Please remember to involve the kids in your home and have fun completing the survey.
We look forward to hearing your feedback and providing high quality, fun and inclusive playgrounds for your community.

Playground Replacements 2018-2019 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In 2017, residents were invited to complete an online survey to give us an idea of the features that people want for their new playgrounds. We received a tremendous response with over 1,000 surveys submitted. This information was very helpful in designing playgrounds to respond to the unique needs and preferences of each community. To check out the playground design for your local park, see the listing below and hit "see design". All playgrounds include junior and senior structures and swings. Colours may vary.
