A character study of the Shoreacres neighbourhood is currently underway. Through the study, the city will collaborate with residents and other key stakeholders to define the character of the area and consider ways to manage change that will protect and maintain the neighbourhood's character.
A preliminary community meeting was held on July 29, 2014. The meeting introduced the study to local residents and collected their feedback. Approximately 65 residents were in attendance. View the presentation from this meeting (PDF).
In February 2015, Burlington city staff presented a report to Council outlining the recommendation for the Shoreacres study. Report to Council - PB-11-15.
Shoreacres Open House and Walking Tour - June 29, 2015
On June 29, 2015, an open house was held at Appleby United Church. Over 40 residents were in attendance. Two walking tours through the neighbourhood were held to allow residents to express their thoughts about the character of their neighbourhood to the project team. Stakeholder Interviews - Summer 2015
The project team will be conducting one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders (residents, local architects, real estate agents, builders, etc.) to further inform the project team's understanding of the neighbourhood's character.

Drop-in Open House Meetings - Oct. 2016
Report PB-70-16 (Character Area Studies and Site Plan Approval for Low Density Residential Areas) was presented to the Community and Corporate Services Committee on September 12, 2016.
