A healthy and sustainable urban forest is supported through a number of tree protection and preservation initiatives. Burlington's Public Tree Bylaw provides protection for trees located within the city's road allowance and within parks and facilities.
Tree Protection Standards provide guidelines for developers and the construction industry to follow in order to protect existing trees. Tree Maintenance Programs are delivered by the city to maximize the health and structure of public trees, including programs to manage Tree Pests and Diseases, which can threaten the city's tree canopy. The city also provides a Tree Planting program to replace and replenish the city's urban forest.
