The Appleby GO Mobility Hub is a locally recognized Mobility Hub centred around the Appleby GO Station. The Appleby GO Mobility Hub study area boundary is comprised of an area of approximately 800m around the GO Station, south of Highway 403, along Appleby Line and extending along the Fairview Street corridor and north along Queensway Drive.
As Burlington grows over the next 20+ years, complete, compact neighbourhoods will be built around the city's GO stations and the downtown. These areas are called Mobility Hubs.
The City is creating an Area Specific Plan (secondary plan) to guide future growth in the Appleby GO Mobility Hub. The plan will focus on creating a complete community that is environmentally-friendly, infrastructure-efficient, walkable, bikable, and supports local and regional transit with a mix of uses such as employment, housing, recreation and shopping.
With community input collected throughout the study and ongoing technical studies, a draft precinct plan was presented to City Council in July 2018 for feedback and discussion. The draft precinct plan defined a vision for the area within the Mobility Hub, to guide future development including residential, commercial and employment land uses, building heights, urban design considerations and more. More information on the draft plan and study process to date can be found in the "Past Events" section of this web page.
The Mobility Hubs Study, including further refinement to the Appleby GO Mobility Hub draft precinct plan and development of the Area Specific Plan (secondary plan), has been put on hold for one year, following the completion of additional City studies, including:
