Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) has been committed to serving the Burlington community since it first opened in 1961.
In August 2017, the new state-of-the-art, seven-story Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower was opened. This project was made a reality thanks to a partnership between JBH, JBH Foundation, the Provincial Government and the City of Burlington.
Doubling the size of the Hospital, the new Patient Tower features:
With the new Patient Tower complete, extensive to the existing North Tower were completed in 2018. The renovations enabled the opening of the new Ambulatory Care department, which houses clinics for patients who receive care without being admitted to the hospital. The Ambulatory Care department now features:
The renovations also included an updated and refreshed look to the in-patient units, where larger windows were added to increase natural light to support the wellness of the patients, families and staff.
The Redevelopment and Expansion Project was successful because of the generous contributions that were received by the community. The community came together and donated more than $65 million dollars through generous donations made by individuals, service clubs and corporations. The City of Burlington committed to matching the pledge from the Foundation and donated an additional $60 million dollars. The generosity of donors within the community and the dedication from hospital staff, physicians, volunteers and professional teams made the Redevelopment and Expansion Project possible.
The new JBH will continue to serve the city of Burlington with the highest quality of care for years to come.
