About LaSalle Park Community Marina
The Marina is a beautiful location for residents and tourists to launch their boats and enjoy the crisp waters of Lake Ontario and Burlington’s breathtaking lakefront views. The Marina has 219 docking spaces and is protected by a floating wave break. The Burlington Sailing and Boating Club (BS&BC) and the Able Sail program offer sailing programs at the Marina. In addition, the City has a public boat launch at the Marina that is protected by the floating wave break.
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of volunteers and boaters, the boards of directors for the LaSalle Park Marina Association (LPMA) and the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club (BS&BC) have announced the LaSalle Park Community Marina and BS&BC sailing programs will not operate for the 2020 summer season. The public boat launch will also remain closed for boats on trailers. Read the media release.
Parking is very limited at the marina. There is plenty of parking in the upper parking lots at LaSalle Park. For your safety, please park in the upper lots.
A wave break is a structure in water used by marinas to stop large waves from reaching the docks which can cause damage to the docks and boats and is a safety concern for boaters and people on the docks.
The City of Burlington owns the wave break and the Marina. The LPMA runs and operates the Marina.
The LaSalle Park Marina Association has a Joint Venture Agreement with the City that expired at the end of October 2019.
On Sept. 23, 2019 Burlington City Council approved the following from Report CM-17-19 to determine these next steps for the Marina and wave break:
Over a 25-year period, the City’s overall known cost of the new wave break would be $4 million, plus an annual operating cost of $20,000 for a total cost of $4.5 million. It is estimated that LPMA over that same period can pay the City up to $2.7 million through a licence fee, resulting in a net City cost of $1.8 million. For more information on the financial implications, please read Report CM-17-19.
At the foot of historic LaSalle Park, within a well-protected, picturesque basin, LaSalle Park Marina offers well maintained floating slips for Lifetime (Senior Member) or Seasonal (Associate Member). For more information on becoming a member, visit their website.
