Port Nelson Parkette (3000 Lakeshore Rd.) will see a few changes very soon.
Playground Equipment Removal
This past spring, the City of Burlington playground maintenance staff completed a safety inspection of the playground equipment in Port Nelson Parkette. The condition of the equipment was found to be poor with potential to become unsafe if not repaired or removed. The replacement parts are no longer available and the structure may be compromised. To protect the health and well-being of kids using the park, the playground equipment will be removed with demolition in August 2020.
The playground equipment is identified in the proposed capital budget for replacement in 2022. Since the park requires shoreline protection work to be completed ahead of the park renewal, the city decided to keep the playground construction on the intended timeline for 2022. This will allow for the proper public engagement and park design process to go ahead as planned.
