In 2008, the city hired Cole Engineering for a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to explore options to fix the erosion along Roseland Creek from Guelph Line to Lake Ontario. A Public Information Centre was held on Dec. 3, 2008 to update area residents and receive their feedback. This Study was completed in June 2010. Due to budget, the project is being completed in three phases:
Phase 1, 2 and 3 have been done and design of Phase 4 is underway.
The objectives of this project are to design and implement erosion control that will prevent any more erosion along Roseland Creek; protect private and public infrastructure; provide water and land habitat enhancement where feasible; improve the water quality in the Creek and the Lake; and provide nicer views for surrounding landowners.
The city has hired Aquafor Beech Ltd. to design the erosion control. Once finalized, these designs will be tendered for construction in 2019-2020. The construction schedule is tentative and subject to change.
A public information meeting was held on Sept. 7, 2017 to give residents and property owners an overview of the goals and objectives of this project. Notices of Public Open House were mailed out to area residents.
If you were not able to attend the public meeting and would like information or to provide written comments, please contact Arif Shahzad.
