PRESTO in Google Wallet

Making it easier to travel on transit with more ways to pay your fare, PRESTO in Google Wallet

Metrolinx is bringing you even more ways to pay your fare on Burlington Transit. You can now pay your fare by tapping a digital version of the PRESTO card in Google Wallet, on an Android smartphone or Wear OS smartwatch.

When you use PRESTO in Google Wallet, the fare you pay is the same as when you pay with your PRESTO card.

With this new way to pay, you’ll be able to load funds on your card instantly, from anywhere! You’ll still need to visit us at the Downtown Transit Terminal, 430 John St., to load your U-Pass add-on or SPLIT pass.

Visit prestocard.ca to learn more about PRESTO in Google Wallet, learn how to convert your card, and find out where you can use it to pay for transit.

Once you convert to PRESTO in Google Wallet, your physical PRESTO card will be cancelled and most details will be carried over, including fare type, balance, products, card settings, autoload/autorenew contracts, loyalty and more to PRESTO in Google Wallet.

Your newly converted PRESTO in Google Wallet will still be registered to your PRESTO account and will be displayed on the PRESTO website, but can only be managed using the PRESTO App.

You may decide the physical PRESTO card remains your preferred card option especially if you:

  • Share your card with a family member or friend.
  • Prefer to keep your payment cards separate from your Android smartphone or Wear OS smartwatch.
  • Prefer to visit a Customer Service Outlet or Self-Serve Reload Machines to make changes including to load funds to your PRESTO card. Changes can take up to 24-hours to appear.
  • Need to access up to 24 months’ worth of transaction history and the Transit Usage Report for your records and tax purposes.
  • Ever use OC Transpo, Ottawa’s transit service.

The cost of a new physical PRESTO card is $4.
