On April 20, 2021, City Council approved creating a Council Remuneration Review Working Group to review the remuneration and benefits to be paid to Council members for the upcoming term of office (November 2022 - November 2026). This practice has been in place since 2006 and removes the politics from the discussion by having an objective third party review remuneration and expenses.
The Council Remuneration Review Working Group will issue their final report to Council in the fall of 2021. The working group does not have any decision-making capacity, or delegated authority, except to direct staff to assist with administrative support including the gathering of information and resource materials to assist the group with its review.
