Shawna has been a proud resident of Burlington for over 30 years and, along with her husband, has felt privileged to have raised their three beautiful daughters in this amazing city.
Since graduating from Ryerson School of Social Work in 1991, Shawna spent nearly three decades working as a social worker, mediator and systems navigator primarily within the provincial Ministry of Children and Youth Services. For the past four years, she has contributed to the economic development of the community by developing a social enterprise business in Burlington that assists seniors with navigating the stressful transition of downsizing, as well as strongly advocating for innovative and affordable housing options for seniors.
Shawna is passionate about volunteering in the community, canvassing for various charitable organizations, coordinating countless fundraising events for dance, volleyball and artistic programs, and since 2015, has been actively involved with the Burlington Age Friendly Committee and Community Development Halton.
When not in the Council Chambers you can find Shawna continuing her quest to hike the Bruce Trail end to end.
Shawna is excited for this next chapter of her career and honoured to be a part of this great new team at City Hall.
