Doors Open is a province-wide event running from April to October where residents and visitors are invited to discover first-hand, the historical, heritage, natural and cultural resources in participating communities across the province. Doors Open is a program of Ontario Heritage Trust. From historical houses to modern marvels of construction, Doors Open Ontario showcases the buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure and cultural landscapes that shape and define our communities.
Doors Open Burlington takes place on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit heritage sites, noteworthy buildings, and interesting locations - free of charge. Many of these buildings and locations will offer special activities during the day. For Burlington, Doors Open provides a unique opportunity to view the city from a new perspective and celebrate the cultural importance of the sites to the community. Doors Open is presented by the Museums of Burlington and is part of Burlington's Culture Days celebrations from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, 2019.
Doors Open events cannot happen without the help of volunteers. If you would like to learn about Burlington's history and heritage and have some fun in the process, you are encouraged to submit a volunteer application form and join the Doors Open team!
Since 2011, Doors Open Burlington has opened 83 sites to more than 17,000 visitors. The event is instrumental in showcasing Burlington's heritage and culture; strengthening local partnerships; stimulating tourism; and contributing to the local economy.
