
The City of Burlington is one of four municipalities in Halton working to commission a multidisciplinary artist, artist team or artist collective to lead an interactive arts activity for Culture Days. Artists, artist teams, and collectives can submit their proposal to lead a participatory program, project or workshop. Proposals may include:

This opportunity is open to individual Halton-based artists, artist teams and artist collectives living in Burlington, Oakville, Halton Hills, or Milton. Applicants must have community arts and community engagement experience and be 18 years of age or older to apply. The opportunity is not open to established not-for-profit groups and organizations or City employees. |

The commission for the project includes a $2,200 artist fee and up to $1,800 for material costs. Culture Days is an annual celebration of arts, culture and creativity that increases community access, provides hands-on participation and highlights the importance of arts and culture in our communities. Every year, free arts and cultural events are offered as part of the celebration, encouraging participants to create, share and celebrate arts and culture. |
The 17th annual Culture Days will run from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4, 2026. This national initiative aims to raise awareness, provide accessibility and encourage participation in the arts and cultural life of Burlington. Burlington artists, community groups and arts and cultural organizations can participate in Culture Days and offer free interactive arts and cultural activities. Culture Days organizers include a full range of cultural creators - from grassroots community volunteers and independent artists to major arts, culture, and heritage organizations.
Culture Days is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a national network of cultural connections devoted to providing Canadians with opportunities to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of art and culture. Culture Days promotes free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate behind-the-scenes to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative people in Burlington.
