Repairs - fall 2024
Project RenderingThe playground at Leighland Park is closed while the City prepares and implements a plan to repair the underground water drainage system. We anticipate that repairs will be complete this fall.
Due to a very wet spring and soil conditions at the park, the existing drainage system has become overwhelmed and has failed to properly remove water from the playground area. The wood fibre safety surface has become water-logged which means it has lost its effectiveness as a safety feature. In an abundance of caution, the playground will remain closed until the drainage system can be repaired and the safety surface can be replaced. We understand the community’s frustration, but safety of playground users is the number one priority.
We appreciate your patience. We certainly did not expect to have to close the playground this year. A short-term closure like this will help ensure the playground’s life-span and children’s safety. It is essential the...

The City of Burlington is renewing Cavendish Park, located at 2155 Cavendish Dr., guided by the ‘Get Involved Burlington/Your Parks’ survey input that was gathered from local area residents in April 2024. Concept B: Green Open Space was voted the preferred concept.
