Chief Building Official Technical Directives
We are using ‘Chief Building Official (CBO) Technical Directives’. These are official interpretations and guidance issued by our CBO to help you understand complicated or unclear requirements of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and Building Code Act (BCA). The technical directives offer instructions for:

This is to make sure we have consistent standards for:

We develop each directive as needed. It is then reviewed and approved by the CBO. These directives represent the City’s official interpretation of the related OBC requirements.
