You, your lawyer or your financial institution can request a tax certificate with the City of Burlington online through our Property Information Request service. We will provide your tax certificate within three business days of receiving your completed online request form and payment.
Costs
The cost for each tax certificate request is $70.
Instructions for lawyers
- We only provide verbal property tax information to lawyers' offices where a tax certificate has been issued in the past 90 days.
- Lawyers can send a copy of the registered Transfer/Deed, after closing, by email to taxownership@burlington.ca or by fax to 905-335-7877.
What is a tax certificate?
A tax certificate is a legal document that displays:
- A property's annual taxes
- Any current or prior year arrears
- Any local improvements billed to a given property
