All new facilities and renovations to properties owned and leased by the City of Burlington must follow our Accessibility Design Standards. These standards provide instruction on how to create a more usable and accessible environment for everyone, including people with disabilities.
While not required, we encourage the use of the Accessibility Design Standards in the development and construction of all new facilities, private or public, throughout the community.
If there is a conflict between the requirements of the Accessibility Design Standards and Ontario Building Code, federal or provincial accessibility legislation requirements, the most accommodating requirements will apply.
