The City of Burlington's Property Standards Bylaw provides the minimum standards for residential property owners to follow to make sure that your property is structurally sound and properly maintained.
If you are a property owner in Burlington, you must keep your property in good are repair and maintain it. This includes any property that you own and rent or lease to tenants.

To submit a complaint and request bylaw enforcement, email bylaw@burlington.ca or call 905-335-7731. Please include your name, address and telephone number in your email or voicemail. We will only investigate complaints with contact information included. Your personal information will be kept confidential.
If you have concerns about your rental unit, speak to your landlord or property manager and submit a service request. If this issue is not resolved in a reasonable amount of time, contact bylaw@burlington.ca or 905-335-7731.
If you have been served an Order, you may wish to appeal the Order. The Property Standards Committee is a committee appointed by City Council to consider these types of appeals. You can send a Notice of Appeal by registered mail to:

Please make sure to include the appeal fee to the Secretary of the Committee within 14 days after being served the Order. The fee to appeal a Property Standards Order is $340.
Property owners and tenants can request a property standards certificate of compliance from a bylaw enforcement officer. This certificate states that the property complies with the Property Standards Bylaw and the Building Code Act. To ask for a certificate of compliance, email bylaw@burlington.ca or call 905-335-7731
