The City of Burlington's Low-Income Property Tax Reduction Program offers a $575 reduction on property taxes to eligible low-income seniors or persons with disabilities who meet these qualifications:
- You must be the assessed owner and occupant of a residential property in the City of Burlington for at least one year before you submit your application.
- The property is you, the owner’s, principal residence.
- You or your spouse is the registered owner(s) of only one property in the City of Burlington.
- Your property taxes must be paid in full.
Low-Income Seniors:
To qualify for this program, you must be the owner and/or your spouse must:
- be 65 years of age or older,
- receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) under the Old Age Security Act and
- submit your prior year T4A(OAS) slip with payments in Box 21 or GIS Entitlement letter.
Low-Income Persons with Disabilities:
To qualify for this program, you must be the owner and
- receive income support paid under the Ontario Disability Support Program Act,
- submit your prior year T5007 Statement of Benefits with payments in Box 11 and
- submit confirmation from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services showing that you receive income support under the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).
- Note – Programs such as the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefit or the Disability tax credit (DTC) etc alone does not qualify for this property tax reduction. Applicants must receive ODSP monthly payments.

There are two ways you can apply:

- Print – Fill out the Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Property Tax Reduction [PDF] and submit to the City by:

• Drop off completed form to – City Hall – Service Burlington, 426 Brant Street, Burlington ON
Deadline
If you are eligible, you must apply every year. Your application must be submitted by Dec. 31 of the current tax year.
