Who can file a conflict of interest inquiry? |
Any eligible Burlington municipal voting resident or anyone acting in the public interest who believes a member has violated the conflict of interest rules may file an inquiry. |
Are there any restrictions on when an applicant can apply for a conflict of interest? |
You must apply for your inquiry within six weeks of becoming aware of the conflict of interest. In a municipal election year, the Integrity Commissioner cannot accept applications between the election's nomination day and voting day. If you become aware of a conflict of interest during this time, you must apply to the Integrity Commissioner within six weeks after voting day. If the commissioner has not completed an investigation before nomination day, the investigation must be terminated. |
