The City of Burlington is committed to maintaining transparency in our information and accountability in our processes.

Audit CommitteeThe mission of the Office of the City Auditor is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. The City Auditor reports to the Audit Committee, a standing committee of Council.
Closed Meeting InvestigationsLearn how to submit a request for a Closed Meeting investigation in the City of Burlington and our Closed Meeting processes.
Conflicts of Interest RegistryThe City maintains a Conflicts of Interest Registry of all declarations filed by Members of Council and of the City's local boards and advisory committees.
Council Remuneration and ExpensesCouncil spending is subject to the Council Expense Manual, which outlines their approved allocation of expenses. The Council remuneration and expenses reporting provides a summary of expenditures for all members of Council.
Freedom of InformationWe promote open government and encourage access to information for the public. Learn how to request information held by the City.
Integrity CommissionerThe role of the Integrity Commissioner is to support the City's ethical framework and enforce the Code of Good Governance. They provide guidance on various ethical codes and policies and investigate potential breaches of the Code.
Lobbyist RegistryThe Lobbyist Registry is an accountability and transparency tool that documents interactions between individuals who lobby City of Burlington Council Members.
Mayoral Decisions Pursuant to the Municipal ActThe Mayor has special powers and duties under the Municipal Act, 2001. The Mayor is required to exercise these powers in writing and make them available to the public, subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Office of the OmbudsmanAs part of our commitment to being transparent and accountable, we have appointed an Ombudsman as an impartial complaint investigator. If the City's internal complaint process has not resolved your issue, you may file a complaint with the Ombudsman.
