The City of Burlington issues parking tickets and fines or penalty notices, under our Parking and Idling By-law. Our enforcement officers promote and enforce compliance with our parking, idling and traffic bylaws to help keep the community safe.
How to pay a parking ticket |
If you are issued a parking ticket, you can pay it online, in-person at City Hall or by mail. |
Paying online |
You can pay your parking ticket at any time online. Have your credit card information ready for our secure online payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Paying in-person |
You can pay your parking ticket in-person at City Hall's Service Burlington desk at You can also deposit a cheque with your ticket information in our drop box by the rear doors of City Hall. Please do not deposit cash. |
Paying by mail |
You can pay your parking ticket by mail, by delivering a cheque and your ticket information to: City of Burlington We do not accept cash payments by mail. |
Your Ontario Vehicle Permit will not be renewed if you have failed to pay your parking fines. Your licence plate will not be issued until the fine, any hearing costs and outstanding fees have been paid.

Parking Tickets may be disputed through our screening process.
To appeal a parking ticket, you or your agent must act within 15 days of ticket issuance. Acting after the 15 day period may result in additional fees.
Before choosing to dispute a parking or by-law related ticket, please be aware of the following:
Tickets are issued when there is a violation of a municipal by-law.
The reason, intent or duration do not change the fact that there was a violation.
Being unaware of the regulations does not excuse you from penalties.
Signage is not required to provide notice of violations.
Valid tickets are not cancelled.
Outstanding tickets sent to MTO or collections cannot be appealed or disputed.
To arrange a screening with one of our screening officers in Parking Services, please submit a request online through the Parking Customer Portal. Screening is closed from 1 – 1:30 p.m daily.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the meeting, you may request a formal hearing with our staff upon completion.
