The City of Burlington's road and sidewalk maintenance programs help improve safety for road users and pedestrians year-round.
You can report a road or sidewalk issue with the City online. Simply create a request using our service request search tool on our Service Burlington page, select your issue type and describe it for our staff. After you submit your request, we will contact you to follow up.
You can also report a road or sidewalk issue by calling 905-335-7777 or emailing us at city@burlington.ca.
Our annual street cleaning service usually begins in May and takes approximately three weeks to complete. We clean both primary roads and residential roads. Please remove all vehicles, basketball nets, hockey nets and other obstacles from the road to allow our sweepers to do a thorough and efficient job. Watch our news and notices for more information on upcoming cleaning dates and times.
With our Shave and Pave program, we review the condition of roads annually and use the collected information to establish a multi-year road resurfacing plan, based on available funding. We maximize funding to complete work at the most optimal time, which extends the useful life of roadways and provides long-term savings.
Work to complete resurfacing is contracted each year, and Burlington staff administer and inspect the work. We provide mailed notices and hand-delivered reminder notices to affected residents prior to any construction work.
Each year, we repair and replace sections of sidewalks, walkways, laneways and facility parking lots which need maintenance. We perform inspections each May to identify defects and crews work to replace slabs or level concrete by lifting sections, or grinding down raised edges.
