The City of Burlington's Animal Shelter offers a variety of programs to educate the community on responsible pet ownership and to make sure Burlington is a safe place for people and animals.
Public events
Our staff attends local events throughout the year to:
- Answer questions about animal concerns
- Promote the services we provide
- Showcase animals available for adoption

School visits
Upon request, our staff will provide daycare, elementary and high school visits. We will cater sessions to the specific age group and discuss:
- Bite prevention
- Common wildlife in the area
- How to properly care for pets at home
- Local animal control bylaws
- The role of the animal shelter in the community
Shelter tours
We offer tours of our facility to the general public and to school groups on a daily basis upon request. For groups of five or more people, please call ahead to arrange a suitable time.
