In October 2021, Burlington City Council approved the submission of a funding request to the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (Audit and Accountability Fund) for an Enterprise Web Architecture and Modernization Review. The Ministry approved the request for funding. The City of Burlington entered into an Agreement with KPMG for an independent third-party review.
The objectives of the review included:
- An assessment of the current state of online services, customer applications, databases, platforms, and integrations
- A recommended web architecture to achieve efficiencies and an improved customer and employee experience
- An implementation roadmap which prioritizes and aligns digital service enablement projects to gain high impact improvements over the next 3-5 years
The final report was submitted to Council in January 2023. The report presents several options for the City to consider. The City is evaluating the recommendations to develop a roadmap that is achievable and sustainable.
