The City of Burlington Animal Service shelters lost pets and helps reunite them with their families.
If your pet is missing, please contact us at 905-335-7777 during regular City hours. We provide a temporary place for animals that have lost their way home, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and pocket pets. We also house stray animals for the Town of Milton. The shelter hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The Shelter is closed on Sundays.
You can also check with other local shelters.
Other things you can do to find your pet:
It costs $59.45 to pick up your lost pet during shelter hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays) and $136.78 during non-shelter hours.
Please contact us at 905-335-7777 if you find a stray pet and we will arrange either for you to drop it off or for an officer to pick it up. You can also hold onto the animal and we can file a found report. This way, we can direct owners to pick up their pet from you when they call in looking for it.
According to our Animal Control Bylaw, animals that are not claimed by owners within a minimum of five days, if suitable, are put up for adoption.
Dog Licences are the fastest way to reunite you with your lost dog. Many dogs are quickly reunited with their owners in Burlington each year because they were found wearing a current license.
