Community groups and organizations can submit a request for a flag raising in Civic Square at City Hall in the City of Burlington. A flag raising recognizes a historical event or a specific date or timeframe related to a community cause. (i.e., Red Cross Month, Cancer Month, etc.).
Please submit your request at least 30 days prior to the proposed flag raising event. Your request will be reviewed as flag raisings are subject to availability.
If the flag is not already on site, your organization will need to provide a three-inch by six-inch flag with two grommets to City Hall Operations before the flag raising.
The Mayor and members of Council may attend a flag raising based on availability.
The City of Burlington's flags are flown at the half-mast position as a sign of mourning.
The City follows federal protocol in flying the national flag of Canada at half-mast on certain occasions, including as directed by the Department of Canadian Heritage for all federal government buildings.
