The City of Burlington is updating the Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP) and has now created a draft UFMP. Residents are invited to review the document and provide feedback into the draft UFMP at a public information session and/or through an online survey.
The UFMP will provide the strategic direction important to managing the urban forest in response to new pressures and challenges related to urban development, climate change, extreme weather and invasive pests. An online survey to collect feedback will be available now until June 30 at getinvolvedburlington.ca/ufmp. An in-person and online information session is planned for June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Tansley Woods Recreation Centre, 1996 Itabashi Way.
This plan identifies opportunities on both public and private lands and focuses on five key areas:
- Management and Implementation
- Community Engagement and Stewardship
- Protection and Preservation
- Replenishment and Enhancement
- Tree Health and Risk Management
Once feedback is collected from residents and industry professionals, the UFMP will be finalized. The final master plan and report will be presented to Burlington City Council in late 2023.

Public Information Session
Residents are invited to attend a public information session in-person or online to learn about the City of Burlington’s proposed UFMP.
The session will feature information from City staff and urban forestry experts. Participants will have an opportunity to provide input and ask questions.

Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Tansley Woods Recreation Centre, 1996 Itabashi Way. Residents participating online can find the meeting link at getinvolvedburlington.ca/ufmp.
A separate information session for industry professionals such as arborists, landscapers and developers is planned for June 9 by invitation only. If you would like to attend, please email city@burlington.ca.
