The City of Burlington and the Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee are developing its third Multi-year Accessibility Plan. This plan will be implemented for 2024-2028.
Tell us how we can remove barriers for everyone. Residents of all ages and abilities are encouraged to visit getinvolvedburlington.ca/accessibilityplan to complete a survey and give their feedback. The survey will be open until Nov. 13, 2023.
The goal is to work towards creating at city where everyone feels they are welcome by making improvements to City programs, services and facilities so they are available to everyone of all ages and abilities. The results of Multi-year Accessibility Plan can benefit the community for years to come.
Members of the Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC) will be at the Farmers’ Market at the Burlington Centre, 777 Guelph Line, on Saturday, Oct. 14 collecting feedback and available to answer questions about accessibility throughout the city.
BAAC will also be handing out materials to support Treat Accessibility, an initiative to let children with disabilities know they are welcome to experience Halloween without barriers at your home. Simple ways to improve Halloween’s accessibility include handing out treats at the end of the driveway and avoiding the use of strobe lights.
The Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee advises on the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to people with disabilities in the City of Burlington's bylaws, policies, programs and services. The committee also:

“The Multi-year Accessibility Plan will help guide us towards creating an inclusive and respectful community where city programs, services and facilities are available to everyone, including people living with disabilities. Our goal is to ensure accessibility for the public we serve and our employees.”
“We stand on the threshold of a transformative chapter in Burlington's journey towards inclusivity. Creating our third multi-year accessibility plan is a testament to our commitment and a blueprint for our shared future. Each plan brings us closer to realizing a Burlington where every individual, irrespective of ability, navigates a city designed with them in mind. It's more than infrastructure and policy; it's about sculpting a cityscape where inclusivity is the norm and accessibility is the right of all.”
