
What is Proposed?
The City of Burlington is proposing amendments to the Burlington Official Plan, 2020 through an Official Plan Amendment (OPA). It will implement a revised vision and other area-specific policies for the Bronte Creek Meadows area to guide future development proposals for the property.
The Official Plan Amendment contains a proposed policy framework that provides direction for Bronte Creek Meadows (BCM) to be planned as a vibrant mixed-use, transit supportive, complete community inclusive of economic, social and environmental benefits. The amendment has been informed by the BCM Area Specific Planning Project and various inputs including Council direction, technical studies and public feedback gathered fall 2024.

Statutory Public Meeting
You are invited to attend a Statutory Public Meeting under the Planning Act on Tuesday, March 4 to provide comments on the proposed Official Plan Amendment. No decisions about the proposal have been made yet. We are asking for your feedback to inform staffs’ future recommended amendment to the Committee of the Whole later this year.

How to participate in the Statutory Public Meeting
The proposed Official Plan amendment will be available for public review and comment on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The amendment will be available at www.getinvolvedburlington.ca/officialplan. If you need an accessible or hard copy of the amendment, please email newop@burlington.ca to arrange pick-up.
How to Obtain the Staff Report
The staff information report contains a discussion on the proposed amendment. It will be available for public review on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. The report will present and seek feedback on the proposed amendment to all members of Council and the public. All feedback will inform staffs’ recommended amendment to Committee of the Whole later this year. The staff information report will be available at www.burlington.ca/calendar by searching for Committee of the Whole meeting on March 4. If you require a hard copy of the report, please email clerks@burlington.ca to arrange pick-up.

If you have presentation materials, they must be submitted to Jo-Anne Rudy, Committee Clerk at Jo-Anne.Rudy@burlington.ca by noon, Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 so they can be reviewed by all members of the Committee. The content of all submissions is considered public and will be posted to the City’s website.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Burlington before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
