The City’s annual street sweeping program, which began in late April, is still underway.
The program is organized into 28 sweeping zones across Burlington. To date, crews have completed work in the majority of the city, with approximately eight zones remaining. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of June.
Areas where street sweeping is currently underway or scheduled to take place over the next two weeks include:
Tyandaga
Millcroft
Alton Village
Corporate Drive area
Downtown Burlington
Once work in these areas is complete, crews will move on to the remaining neighbourhoods:
Headon Forest
Mountainside area
Mount Forest
Residents can help crews complete the work safely and efficiently by removing parked vehicles, basketball nets, hockey nets and other obstacles from the roadway. This helps sweepers access the curb line and provide a more thorough cleaning. On collection days, please place garbage, recycling and organics containers at the end of your driveway rather than on the road.
To minimize disruption, sweeping on major roads is conducted during the early morning hours. Residential streets are swept throughout the day as crews move through each neighbourhood.
The City will provide an update once the street sweeping program has been completed.
