In an effort to encourage the installation of residential solar panels, the City of Burlington is now offering grants for the building permit fee for residential solar panels installed on rooftops for the remainder of 2024. This would be a savings of $594.
The solar incentive program is a pilot project designed to remove a potential barrier for installation of solar panels, supports the transition to electrification away from the use of fossil fuels, resulting in a lower carbon footprint. Solar panels can help offset electricity bills, particularly through the net metering program and is a renewable energy source, which is a key program area in the City’s Climate Action Plan.
