This issue of City Talk has everything you need to know about the election. From how to vote and who is running to important changes to some ward boundaries, we’ve got you covered.

Know your candidates
Before you vote, take time to learn about the candidates running for City Council and school board trustee. Visit the election website and select the For Voters tab to find candidate names, contact information and links to candidate websites where available.

Being on the Voters' List makes in-person voting faster and ensures you receive a voter information letter in the mail. The letter contains important information about advance voting and Voting Day dates, times and locations.

| Review ward boundary changes |
|
Minor changes to Burlington’s ward boundary structure were approved in May 2025 following a Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review. The ward boundary changes affect Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. Check the new ward boundary map online to see if your ward has changed. |

| Voter Information Letters will be mailed to eligible voters in early October. Voter Information Letters contain important voting information about how to vote online and in-person voting dates, times and locations. |

There are four ways to vote in the upcoming election:

In-person advance voting In-person advance voting on Oct. 17 and Oct. 20 is available at three locations. Eligible voters can vote at
Voting Day On Voting Day, Oct. 26, there are 24 in-person voting locations, four in each ward. Eligible voters can vote at any voting location in their ward. Visit the election website to see a list of voting locations by ward. |
NEW: Ward boundary changes for the 2026 municipal election
Minor changes to Burlington’s ward boundary structure were approved in May 2025 following a Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review.
As Burlington continues to grow, the new ward structure is designed to accommodate population shifts for the next three municipal elections to ensure voters are represented equally in decision-making.
The new ward boundaries will be used for the 2026 municipal election and officially take effect on Nov. 16, 2026, when the new Council term begins.
Which wards are changing?
The boundary changes affect Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. Check the map below or type your address into the City’s interactive map to see if your ward has changed.
Consider voting online
Online voting is secure and confidential, with two-factor authentication and secure servers located in Canada.
The online voting period runs from Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. to Friday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. Eligible electors will receive a Voter Information Letter by mail in early October. The letter will include instructions and the link to cast your vote online.
