The City of Burlington has initiated an environmental assessment (EA) for flood mitigation along Lower Rambo Creek partnering with Aquafor Beech Limited. Project scope
The EA will explore and evaluate various infrastructure solutions designed to mitigate flood hazards within the study area. The process will involve analyzing flood risks under different scenarios and selecting a preferred alternative that offers long term, effective storm water management. The evaluation will consider the environmental, social and economic impacts of each option, ensuring a balance between resilience and sustainability. Potential improvements include enhanced storm water conveyance systems, upgrades to creek crossings and naturalization efforts to support ecological functions.
Public engagement
The City of Burlington values input from residents, indigenous communities, and other stakeholders throughout the study. Public engagement opportunities will be provided at key stages of the project, including open houses and review periods for the draft EA report. Feedback gathered during these sessions will be essential in shaping the preferred mitigation strategy. Comments and suggestions submitted during the study will be documented and considered when selecting the final approach.
